Rise and Fall !

Or should I say, Fall and Rise..
Well after the last update we saw on the refineries having a great fall in their prices, its time for a rise.

With the view to hedge against the growing Inflation, all the investors trying to buy the Oil shares. They are trying to invest into the oil market hoping that prices will increase with this inflation.

Its good news again for those who have already bought the shares.

Reliance Petro is now at 170.05/-
This is more than what I paid when i bought.. So now my luck is shining :-D

Bharat Petroleum is back on track with 445.55/- from a low of 434/-

Essar has leaped from 222/- at which it closed to cross the last high of 232/- to reach 244/-

Chennai Petroleum is however still in the Red zone infact going lower by a rupee than last 288/- to 287/-

Hmm i think I should just wait and watch..

Highest gainer today Larsen n Toubro ! awesome 6.93% rise..

I n f l a t i o n

I liked this example which they used to explain the meaning of Inflation..

"in inflation everything gets more valuable except money"

Code Red

Reliance Petro has moved to the Red zone from Green :-(

I bought it at 167/- .. 20 of them.. and now its 154/- today :-O

It was doing well after a few days since I bought. All of a sudden this sudden crash.

In the same sector is Bharat Petroleum. I was keeping an eye on it too. It has incidentally gone into red zone as well..

Its last close was around 450/- and today its on 434/-

Essar Oil closed from 232/- to 222/- today going into the Zone red too.

Chennai Petroleum has also gone from 303/- to 288/- again getting it to the zone red!

Seems the Refineries sector is doomed !!!

My first try on shares was unlucky..
lets hope things get better !

Investment: Shares and Market

Yep finally I am interested in Finance and this is to remain for good... (i hope so)
I am trying to understand How the Share the Market works..

Yes, have taken this up seriously.. well i have taken this up many time before but ended up not understanding much.. This time I hope to stick on and get a good understanding on it..

I have decided to keep aside or rather allocate some money which I can invest. Now here I am in the whole wide world of companies whose share I can buy.. Whom to pick and why and whats the latest on the shares I bot.. is what i will talk about :-)

As of now.. still searching for the right company to invest in..
Understanding how to keep track of the companies in which I can invest.. what is the company investing into? What does the company claim to do and perform in future.. These points will help deciding which shares to buy..

As of now.. I think there is alot of scope on building the infrastructure of the country. Real estate is booming, power and energy are that we need to look into..

Just my guess with the li'l knowledge I have..

But for now.. specifically I am thinking of Reliance.. what say??
I think for the long run it will be good.. But it is so expensive :-( Reliance Petro is one i can afford.. its like 162/- today....

hmm I think I shall track Reliance to start off.

Lets see if its a wise decision..

Rise and Fall

Lovely song by Craig David.. Rise and Fall..

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over,
And it seems as though the writings on the wall,
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall !

I always said that I was gonna make it,
Now it's plain for everyone to see,
But this game I'm in don't take no prisoners,
Just casualties,
I know that everything is gonna change,
Even the friends I knew before me go,
But this dream is the life I've been searching for,
Started believing that I was the greatest,
My life was never gonna be the same,
Cause with the money came a different status,
That's when things change,
Now I'm too concerned with all the things I own,
Blinded by all the pretty girls I see,
I'm beginning to lose my integrity

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over,
And it seems as though the writings on the wall,
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall

I never used to be a troublemaker,
Now I don't even wanna please the fans,
No autographs,
No interviews,
No pictures,
And less demands,
Given advice that was clearly wrong,
The type that seems to make me feel so right,
But some things you may find can take over your life,
Burnt all my bridges now I've run out of places,
And there's nowhere left for me to turn,
Been caught in comprimising situations,
I should have learnt,
From all those times I didn't walk away,
When I knew that it was best to go,
Is it too late to show you the shape of my heart,

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over,
And it seems as though the writings on the wall,
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall

Now I know,
I made mistakes,
Think I don't care,
But you don't realise what this means to me,
So let me have,
Just one more chance,
I'm not the man I used to be,
Used to beeeeeeeeeee

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over,
And it seems as though the writings on the wall,
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall !

Its time for the Survival of the fittest !

Yes its time for the survival of the fittest! And why not? People who are ready to work hard and provide better service, they should be rewarded!

If localites in Mumbai failed to show their detremination to work hard and give good service, it is their loss. North Indians who come to Mumbai or Maharashtra to earn their living come with a motive to make good money. They slog day in and day out. They are smart. They know how to get jobs and work towards it. Why should they be kicked out just because of the not so smart localities.

If they are ready to get paid less and work more than a Mumbaikar or for that matter a Marathi guy, why would people not employee them. Finally its business. Its not charity.

And we are a part of one country. It is OK if any Indian comes and work in any state. Who are these so called leaders to make rules.

Democracy does not mean bullying the poor. All that some of the leaders do is target the poor since they wont go against them. And there will always be some people supporting them which is why they feel they have the strength and freedom to hurt the poor burn buses and create fear in the minds of the people.

Its sad to see, but, Divide and rule seems to have become the National Anthem of this country!

Monday, February 04, 2008

Why dont our leaders believe in "United We stand, Divided we fall" ???

Why cant we be happy with India's progress.. why do we always have to Divide... its either religion, or caste or sub caste or now states..
Looking at the following news, its so sad to see this happening...
SP activists clash in Mumbai

The Poor being targeted. Injustice happening to the poor time and again!

Why cant we take it positively and make this to be an excellent prospect for India !
We have so many Educated Leaders, whom people look upto and follow.. is this an example to set ????

Why take it negatively, against Mumbai? Does Mumbai have less schools? So what if one wants to do something for poor and start off with his native which needs a school to educate the poor. Its not that he went and started one in US or in Delhi or in some already developing city!

If Mumbai is a city of opportunities, why cant they be proud of it. Instead of kicking people out, we can use other positive methods to make other cities as good as Mumbai. Why dont we work on getting the quality of living and working in terms of opportunities in other cities as well. If the politicians really want to do something for the nation for its people, why don't they collaborate with politicians of other state to work together in making the other states and cities better ??? They can help make other cities as good as Mumbai too !!!! Why don't they think in these lines and go to the lowest level of bashing up poor and use unethical means.

Forget learning anything positive from the British when they were ruling us, but we Indian surely have learnt the Divide and Rule Policy to its Best !!!!
Its a Disgust! Its such a shame...

When will we have Good Leaders ??? When will this system change for the RIGHT and for the BETTER ???
When can we see our leaders work for the Nation and NOT for their state/city/caste/sub-caste ???

Its a Beautiful Life...

Oh yes it is.. With all the compliments I am receiving for the song i sang.

For those who dont know what I am talking about..
A friend of mine started a Blog which is supposed to be like Radio-Mirchi having his friends sing a song or say a few lines.. a site where all can actually "voice" what they wanna say :-)

Here is the link: Radio-Idli. My song is uploaded there. Listen to it. The song as the blog-post title suggests is "Beautiful Life". Its original is sung by "Ace of Base". One of my favorite groups.

When Nagesh initially asked me to send just a snapshot of voice, i said No immidiately. I thgt i sounded funny when i heard my own voice.. i still think so :-)

Then, I heard the Song Lakshya sung by another friend, Ashwin. I thgt he did a wonderful job and that inspired me too :-) Thanks to Ashwin, i thgt of singing one too.. and I gave it a shot last night.. Sat recording till 1.00am and then gave it to a few friends to listen and waited for their comments till 3.30.. it was fun.

I enjoyed makin it!

Do listen to it and lemme know ur comments :-)

Its finally time to return..

So after having stayed in Pittsburgh for 8 months, I am finally returning home. I am feeling so good.. Initially when i was to leave on 23rd Dec. 2006, I did not wanna leave.. i loved it here. But as the days came closer, thought of meeting my folks, sister, neice, friends and a few loved ones, made me wanna run back home. Since then, I have just wanna go back. My stay got extended and now I am leaving on 27th Jan. A whole month more.. but everyday i missing home more and more. Everday was feeling like a day of more than 24hrs. Just killed time.. Now I am counting days to go.

As i leave this li'l home that i had made here.. I will take some memorable moments, days and weeks. The friends i have made and every li'l thing i learnt from everyone here. Its just been wonderful.

But Home is Home.. i wanna go back to my loved ones. I missed them so much.. its time i went back. I will wanna back come again.. but for short periods.. not so long.. its lonely here!

Some things i learnt from my stay here:
1. Value relationships: Staying here alone, I know what my family means to me. I cant stay a single day without talking to them or being in touch with them. Same is the case with friends. Not having many friends here.. i missed my old friends.. When we r sorrounded with them, we take it for granted.. but here i m with noone around. All i wanted to be amongst my friends.. my loving friends.
Relationship, once built is so sacred. Be it Parents, Sister or Friends. Other than my folks and sister, who i missed a lot was my li'l neice. She was just 5 months when i left. She was a baby .. hadnt started to walk. Last i saw her turn on her belly and back. Today she walks, talks and in all this, she has forgotten her pacchi (aunt) which is me. I missed seeing all that my mom and dad saw. They have fun with her.. i miss her so much.. I am so so so glad to be back n will get to see her.
Made some extremely good friends and learnt so much from them.. will never forget them. Esp. my neighbour. Learnt alot from her. She has been an angel in disguise.. Will never forget all that she has done for me. Taken care of me like an elder sister. God Bless her always!

2. Responsible: Since the onus of house, the utilities is on me, I had no other options than to be responsible :-) Well, it was nice taking care of the house and be on my own. Paying bills on time, seeing that fridge is loaded with food .. well mostly with puddings and ice creams.. well all this is necc. when u r living on your own. I wont complain, I was responsible from start ;-) and so managed pretty well. But yes, all this experience made me understand responsibility very well.

3. Independent: Being on my own I def. learnt the Art of beign Independent. Made my own choices in many matters.. Had the liberty to buy anything and everything i wanted. Though i did consult folks even after being here that is different.. but yes, many things were my own decision. Go on your own, be on your own... hmm twas a nice experience.. not always though! u do feel lonely..

4. Faith in God: Being alone i always relied on God for any strength and peace of mind. He was my best friend all the time and esp. in the 8 months. I have learnt about patience, that time heals everything and yet again, if anything has to happen, it WILL happen and All that happens, happens for Ones Good and for the Best!!! I Love you God ! :-)

5. Learnt alot about how to Handle situations when it comes to relationships. I was very impulsive and short tempered. I have cooled down a lot and i dont judge on first impression now. I dont make conclusions at the snap of a finger. Will analyse and try and think from a different perspective. Have learnt to take care of relationships with lotsa attention and groom it in a way that norishes and makes the relationship stronger. Came to know what Love is all about. Learn the importance of Love, Caring, Friendship and Family.

6. Discovered a New Me in myself: Staying alone, having a lot of time for myself, I realised there was a different me too. Realised some of my hobbies and some things that I liked to do other than the regular work. I started to have an eye for nature and its beautiful creations. Even small flowers would fascinate me. The sky so High, the fog, snow, clouds and rain, the trees, the changing colors in Fall.. they all tempted me to capture them in my camera. I also started to write down my thoughts and views and so my writing hobby was also nurtured.
Its good to find a new you. I loved listening to good music and dancing. They were my passion esp. dance but now Photorahpy is also one of them.

And now after living alone and taking care of myself, i want to go home and be sorrounded with family and want to be taken care of ;-)

Rich country Poor Country??

Staying in Pittsburgh for so long, I hadn't visited the famous Carnegie museums. There are a few of them like Art, Science, wild life etc.. So now since its time for going back, I decided to take a quick tour wround Pittsburgh. I went along with my neighbour and her small kid.

The museum was out of the world. Will upload pics soon.. Everything was so unique and ancient. The sculptures, the ancient strutures, the differnt species of animals and many more. I was also impressed by the various paintings and art work by many of them until i came to the section of pictures photographed by an American. I forgot his name.. His theme was "India". I was impressed.. and Happy. Was eager to see what his contributions were..
But i was disappointed and more over angered to see them. His pictures depicted only the poverty in India. He had travelled to Mumbai, Jaipur and Kochi. And in all the cities he visited, he had managed to click pictures of just the poor.
He had shown the Dhobi Ghat of Mumbai, the tired dhobis after their work, some wada-pav wala on the street who was ragged himself with some black stove and kadhayee and the area around him filled with dirt. There was a picture of a sardaji, some old and poor men poorly dressed. Some typical lower class women, a balloon man, some people working in construction sites all covered in mud and sweat...
Not one picture that portrayed what India had to be proud of.

We have the Taj Mahal, the Qutub Minar, the various Forts aorund India. We have Grand weddings that display the richness and high class of people. Esp punjabi weddings or for that matter a Konkani marriage which today is as grand n pomp as a punjabi wedding.. We have our own Well-known industrialists. A shot in CCD or Barista would show the people how Hep and stylish we are too. He could have shown the rich and famous events and people in India.. But there wasn't a single one.

No wonder Americans think we are poor and here as slaves to earn money. Being in US now for more than 6 months, i can tell who are the geuninely nice people and who just show off but inside hate Indians.

I don't think its fair to depict just the poverty of the country. Our country has much more than that! I was not too patriotic as such.. but when people try to show that out country is miserable and poor and filled with poverty, I just couldnt take it !!

Do let me know your views about this. What are we.. slowly a Rich country or just a Poor Country ???

Ice Ice Baby!

The one thing that i was looking forwad to in winter was snow. Living in Pune, I have never experienced snow. Though it does get very cold but it was never enough to have snow. So this being my first meet with Mr. Snow ;-) I was very excited about it. I was really looking forward to it. Wanted to make snowballs and play around and make snow mans just like in movies. It did start getting cold in October and sometime october 25th we did have out first light snow. They were just flurries. They never even reached the ground.

But what I saw today was amazing.
Unlike rains, it makes no sound so I never realised it was snowing. For a moment as I looked out of my window, I was pleasently surprised. It was snowing. Slowly it snowed heavily and roads, lawn, roof tops, cartops were all white. Wow the site was so beautiful. Experiencing snow was worth it.

I was down with cold and sore throat but I couldn't stop myself from shooting the scene. Wore my gloves, winter cap, thick seater, socks shoes, took my camera along and risked to open the balcony and go outside. Clicked a few snaps which I have uploaded here. Also shot some videos as the snow flakes were attacking me. The temperature has been like -8 to -10 degreesC and with wind blowing, temp. was infact -14 to 16 degreesC. Right now its not snowing but temp. is -16 degreesC. The roads, car and roof tops still remain snow covered as the temp. favors the snow to not melt.. Looking fwd to some more snow to shoot and make ya, my own snow-man :-)

Some snow flakes on the floor. One thing i realised they all seemed to be in a symmetric shape. Shape of a flower, star .. infact varied shapes that too symmetrical.

Surprising isn't it?

One special pic. The snow flaked took the shape of a flower. It looked like a diamond flower ear ring :-)
Snap is not that clear.. but thats the best i could get !

The cars in the car park covered with snow. The road is snow-white as well..

A Final collage of snaps !!

Is violence the only answer to violence??

The news came as a shock to me when a friend from India told me about the riots. Buses being burnt, trains being burnt. I wonder what ppl want to proove by doing such things. Did it benift neone? and now what Next ?? What did their anger finally prove. We as citizens have to suffer the loss.. shops broken down, or other property being destructed. Well finally the owners and we citizens have to bear the cost. Buses being burnt only adds to fewer PMT buses. As is it they r in the worst conditions and now with fewer buses, transportation will be affected. Cost of getting new buses.. well..who do u think pays for it.. yep its US!! we will have to shell out more tax i guess ..

I really dont understand if something unfortuante happend in Kanpur, why was the anger shown in Pune and more importantly, why destruct, scare people and make a nuisance of all ??

These people who are involved in such destructions are just a pain in this society and are truely unworthy people. Who are these people who behave in such cruel manner.. are the Educated people involved.. But again, would someone intelligent behave this way. Or is it the uneducated, illiterate people who just want to make a whole big issue ..
In any case, I really wonder what they have gained ??

For those who don't know what happened in Pune, in a gist, this is what the Indian Express had to say:
(of course this is just pune, there has been similar cases in Mumbai and other places too.. )

"For the first time in the twin industrial township's 36-year-old history, shops, commercial establishments and schools shut down and a 24-hour curfew from 6.30 am on Thursday morning was clamped on 14 localities.
Over 160 people were arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad and booked for rioting, unlawful assembly, damaging public property and carrying arms. At least 91 buses of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport were damaged in the violence and the services were off the roads for most part of the day.
PCMT and PMT also suffered huge financial losses as their services were off the roads on Thursday. PCMT general manager Ajit Karche said two buses were completely burnt, while 23 were damaged and they had incurred a loss of Rs 17 lakh.
A PMT spokesman said 68 buses had been damaged since Wednesday and they had incurred losses to the tune of Rs 15 lakh.
IN the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt where violence continued corporates like Bajaj Auto, Kinetic Motors and Forbes Marshall suffered production losses due to low employee turnout.
Forbes Marshall director Farhad Forbes said production was affected as transporters did not operate throughout the day.
Forbes said they expect the disruption to affect 30 per cent of their monthly billing, as much of the supply is on the last two days of the month.
Bajaj Auto also faced similar problems. While employees of the first shift managed to avoid most of the transport problems, several people from the other shifts failed to turn up.
Small and medium businesses in Pimpri Chinchwad were not affected since it was a Thursday. There were broken windows and minor damages, according to Pimpri Chinchwad coordinator for MCCIA Sopan Bhor.
The mob started stoning PMT and PCMT buses. Then, they overturned a few carts. They tried to overturn a bus. Instead, they burnt the bus. All this unfolded over 45 minutes in front of the chowki. The emergency phone number 100 would not get through. 10 police personnel in riot gear come out and dispersed the mob. Not a single arrest was made. The crowd went back to the nearby slum after vandalizing property worth about Rs 1 crore. There were around 20 people in the hospital _ women with children, elderly people, some youth and a bunch of doctors. We were left speechless that such an act of lawlessness went unpunished."

Is it worth it..??
Did all the destruction serve any purpose other than disrupt our normal life and make us poorer wrt to happiness, peace and def. money after all, the expense has to be borne by us?
What can we do as responsible and intelligent citizens?
How can we put a stop to this Stupidity?
What is the role of politicians?? Do they even have a role to play here??
What is the next step... is violence the only answer to violence??
Will there ever be a solution to this problem???

Too many questions.. but will we ever have an answers for them??

As educated and responsible citizens I think its time we start to think about it and make a difference in the current state of the Nation. Is anyone listening ??
